Your Questions About Weight Training Routines

Daniel asks…

what are some good weight training routines?

I’m on my high school football team offensive line, but right now it’s the off season and I’m in the weight room every morning lifting, but i don’t really have a good routine going, and don’t know a lot of lifting techniques besides the classic bench press curling squats and dead lifts so if anyone has any suggestions for lifts that would build muscle as well as good weekly routines to get into.

Drae answers:

A good routine to start off with is the “mad cow 5×5″ just type it in google. It is a very good way to build strength and muscle quickly.

Squats, bench press and dead-lift are the three best exercises.
They cause your body to produce more growth hormone.what ever routine you choose make sure you incorporate these three exercises.

Don’t do the same exercises two days in a row, alternate them.

After you have been doing a routine for a while, you should then change it. Your muscles get used to the routine eventually and then you stop building muscle. Don’t give them a chance to get used to the routine, keep changing. Also after a routine like the 5×5 you should start “cutting”. Go to a bodybuilding forum like this one:

and read about cutting.

Ken asks…

What is the best weight training routines/excersises for competition swimmers?

I’m a football player/track athlete, and have voluteered to train my girlfriend who is a swimmer/water polo player. I’d like to know what are good weight excersises for her body that would benefit her in her sports, while not making her get too “beefed up” or anything of that sort. We just want to make her body stronger, and gain muscle without it being too much.
Any help is welcome :)

Drae answers:

Running , try running 30mins 3-4 times a week , constant speed

and in the gym , just work on lowerabs , back and triceps
thats all a swimmer needs to work on ,

and stretching ankles (sitting on them) thats the only outside the pool excises a swimmer needs to do

Donald asks…

What weight training routines I can do to enhance my biceps?

Drae answers:

Bicep curls would be the most obvious.

Look up arm exercises, or more specifically bicep exercises online to see what else is suggested.
