How do bodybuilders lose fat without losing muscle?

I’ve been lifting weights for 2 months and have built up my muscle but now I want to get rid of some excess fat without losing this muscle. (ie. treadmill running for long distance isn’t going to do it).

Any ideas from people with knowledge/experience/intelligence?
1. I’m not a bodybuilder.
2. I don’t eat “like a retard”
3. I do eat lots of vegetables and I don’t overeat.

First bodybuilders bulk to gain lots of muscle (clean bulk)

What they do is, they lower their carb intake and start eating much more proteine so they keep the muscle.

I have an appreciable amount of muscle but I also have an appreciable amount of fat. What are some good tips to preserve the muscle while losing pure bodyfat? Can noticeable results be seen in 3 months of sticking with a good workout and diet lifestyle?

Coming from a personal trainers perspective, the fastest and most effective way to reduce fat and retain muscle is to rely on the old tricks of cardiovascular exercise, while maintaining a healthy diet with high protein, and staying on a weight training routine. Try walking (fast-paced) on a treadmill 3-4 times a week for about 45-60 minutes per session. Drink lots of water to keep hydrated. Other types of cardio that can be incorporated into your fitness routine include a stair-step, eliptical machine, or stationary bike. If being in the gym all day is not your thing, try taking a pet for a long walk, or riding bikes at night with the kids. Keeping the heart rate elevated at a steady but safe level will keep the calories burning (meaning, it’s not necessary to run like crazy to lose weight; brisk walking is just as effective). Always consult the help of a trained and certified professional before starting an exercise routine. But don’t forget that without the proper diet, all your cardio will be a waste. Up your protein and veggies, and keep a moderately low carb intake. (Do not competely erradicate carbs from your diet. Contrary to popular belief, all carbs are not bad)

How can i lose fat without losing muscle too?

When i cut back on my calories i lose fat, but i also lose muscle (i think) can anyone help me maintain my muscle????

Dont listen to the shit answered so far…if your a guy.just exercise more muscle targeted 3 big meals a day dont do cardio untill later go to the gym do reps with a reasonable weight ,,,the the last few increase the weight…if you a girl and want toned do some cardio then more reps at lower weights you know what you can handle three big meals a day no snack…and gym as much as possible if not every night ..good luck its hard work but worth it

How can i lose belly fat without losing muscle mass?

I have been lifting at the gym for a year or so and has gained some muscle mass. However i have also gained a layer of fat around my lower abdominal. Now i know the only way to lose fat is by a combination of low calorie diet and cardio/aerobic exercises. But by doing these, it will also burn away my hard earned muscle. so i was wondering if any fitness/health experts can help me with this problem. Thanks

I’m not an expert, but I do know that you should watch the fat in the foods that you’re eating. People can do crunches all they want, but if they’re eating a lot of fat and junk, that flab won’t go away. You probably have a nice stomach underneath from working out, but you gotta watch the fat intake to help eliminate it the fat covering it.
