Nancy asks…
what are some effective exercises for love handles?
i want to work on my love handles.
what are some effective exercises for love handles that i can include in my routine?

Drae answers:
Everyone has a problem spot. It can be around the stomach, thighs, arms or chest. No matter where your trouble spot is, the solution is exactly the same. You need to eat less and exercise more. The reason why there’s only one solution for all of these problems is because it’s impossible to tell your body where to burn the excess fat from.
When you eat too many calories, your body stores the excess energy as fat in different areas around the body. To lose this fat, you need to create a calorie deficit (eat less than you burn) to force your body to start burning that fat for energy. There is absolutely no way to control where your body goes to find this extra fat.
The larger your calorie deficit (a bigger calorie deficit means a bigger difference between what you eat and what you burn) the faster your body will burn excess fat and the quicker your body fat percentage will start to decrease. You can increase your calorie deficit by cutting your daily intake and exercising more. Sit ups will do nothing to target the fat around your abs just like squats will do nothing to target the fat around your thighs. You can read more about fixing your trouble spots at the Guide to Reducing Body Fat – http://straighthealth.com/pages/guides/reducebodyfat.html

Robert asks…
What is a lat bar? What are some exercises for love handles or lateral obliques??
I want to know what a lat bar is. I really want to know some exercises to get rid of love handles( which i think are also called lateral obliques.)

Drae answers:
Actually exercise will probably just make those “love handles” look bigger under you shirt. Lat exercises, crunches and sit ups can build muscle under that layer of fat pushing it out even more and making problem areas more noticeable. You need to lose some body fat before you go to crazy with ab exercises. So some cardio like , jumping rope for 10 to 15 minutes a day, brisk walking 30 to 40 minutes a day, swimming, anything that makes ya sweat for 30 to 40 minutes combined with a lower calorie eating plan, say 1200 calories a day will get you dropping 2 to 3 pounds of healthy weight a week. Keep going, weight loss takes time but if you stay with it..you’ll get your reward..Good luck!

Susan asks…
Exercises for love handles or muffin top?
I wanted to know of exercises that help to get rid of love handles or muffin top. Ive seen that sometimes when this happens to people it looks like there butt disappears because the fat on their back kind of blends with the bottom?

Drae answers:
Yeah, that sucks! Well, I haven’t tried this yet, because I want to lose 10 pounds first then I will start trying this workout. This website was recommended from a friends that says this worked for her! Give it a try, I’m sure it won’t hurt

Helen asks…
What are some exercises for love-handles?
I actually have a problem with the ‘width’ of my stomach. It’s pretty flat, I just don’t want it to be so wide. How can I shrink it? The smallest part of my waist is 26 and around the belly button is like 28. I really wanna lose that around the belly button. It doesn’t stick out though when I turn to the side, it’s just my love handles that got bigger. What can I do?

Drae answers:
You cant just work on one area like that. Id say do lots of cardio and eat right along with oblique exercises. But the link below has some exercises

Betty asks…
Lower abs and Love handles exercises?
I have a really flat stomach on top and on the sides, Basically a four pack, But I still have a little pouch and little love handles. Are there any ab exercises I can do that will target these specific areas for maximum results?

Drae answers:
Hey Kimmy!
The trick to targetting any areas among the abdominals, is consistancy. If you are consistant with your program, than you will constantly be building and repairing the muscle tissues, to help you not only build muscle, but also burn any fat in the surrounding areas.
Now, if you have recently (within the past few years) lost a good chunk of weight (15 lbs +), then you may want to caution yourself in that the “little pouch” you refer to, may very well be excess skin. I, myself, have lost 58 lbs in the past year, and because of the extent of fat loss, I have a buldge near the lower middle of my stomach, which is primarily skin that has not yet tightened.
No need to worry though! Either way, endurance training/Abdominal Exercises will work to your benefit to either burn the fat, your tighten the skin.
The love handles will be easier to “target” than the lower abdominal area: To burn the lower abdominal area, you will have to target it indirectly, with some basic abdominal exercises that use mainly the lower body (For example, Sit up’s will target your upper abs, as your upper body is in motion. Doing Captain’s Chair lifts will target your lower abs, because your lower body is in motion).
Some really great abdominal workouts are those that will test your core strength:
For the simple ab exercises, such as sit-ups and crunches, I would advise you to grab two dumbells, and add some weight to the exercise.
Love Handles:
Side Twists work great! …………Put your body into a V shape, with only your bum touching the ground. Grab either two dumbbells, or a Medicine Ball, twist from one side to the other, using your core as your stability. Do this between 40-60 repetitions, 2-3 times
Lateral Bends are good…………Stand with feet no further apart than your shoulders. Bend to one side, while holding a dumbell on that same side, and then alternate. Make sure to bend slowly, and use your ABS to bring you back up. Do not use your back/shoulders to carry the weight, as this defeats the purpose.
Abdominal exercises that use your lower body for motion are things such as Leg Lifts (on your back, or using the captain’s chair), scissors (biking whilst laying on your back), V-Crunches (sit in a V Shape, with only bum touching the floor, and do crunches/sit-ups. Use your lower abs/core as stability)
Another great way to burn fat is cardiovascular exercises. Try doing cardio exercises that target more of your bum/thighs, as those will help most to indirectly affect your lower abdominals in the process.
I hope this helps!!
Xox- Always smile!
